Kiwi, the Cautious Jardine

Kiwi came to live with us in the Fall of '99. His former owner had handfed him when he was a baby. He needed a new home because his owner's son developed asthma and all of the pets had to go. I thought I'd help her find him a new home but Kiwi was such a neat little guy (or girl) that once he arrived here, I became too attached to let him leave. Coincidentally, it turned out that he was a sibling of SadieLady's, although not a clutchmate. He was 3 months younger than she is.

Kiwi could say several words including: Peekeeboo!, Meow, Here kitty, kitty, and Hi Kiwi.. He loved to be cuddled. He was a cautious parrot, being afraid of most hand toys like clothespins and other small objects. He learned to navigate his Boing with enthusiasm and could climb down it with alacrity when his evening almond treat was presented. At night before the lights were turned out, he would bob his whole body up and down as though he was on a spring to get my attention for a last minute head scratch.

Unfortunately Kiwi died suddenly in the summer of 2005. I miss him a lot. I have such delightful memories of him so he continues to live in my memory.
